The role of a chapter YEA (Young Engineers in ASHRAE) committee is to support members 35 and younger. It bridges the gap between early-career professionals and veteran members. YEA provides targeted networking, technical tours, and professional development to prepare young engineers for future leadership roles in the HVAC&R industry

How It Works:
Any ASHRAE member (Affiliate, Associate, or Member) 35 years of age or younger automatically becomes a YEA member at no extra cost. While membership is automatic, active participation in the local chapter’s YEA-specific events is the best way to leverage these career and skill-building benefits

Hosts social and industry gatherings to help young professionals build lasting relationships with peers and experienced experts.

Organizes job site and mechanical room tours (e.g., arena refrigeration plants, breweries) and professional development seminars.

Connects younger members with ASHRAE society officers and committees through specific programs like Leadership U and Chapter Leadership Academy

Aids new graduates and young workers in finding their place within the broader ASHRAE organization so they can contribute to technical committees and future standards.
